Indonesia
Halo! My name is Tjan. I’m a children’s book illustrator from Indonesia. I started drawing when I was 3 years old and have been a professional artist since 2016. I create digital art, painting, cartoons, and illustrations for children’s books and educational books. For fun, I like adventuring into nature or the mountains because the city where I live (Semarang city) is quite hot. Sometimes, I draw with friends. I also like playing games, watching Korean dramas, and playing with cats. Some of my favorite foods are Nasi Goreng, Nasi Padang and Penyetan from Indonesia.
National Batik Day is a holiday in Indonesia for celebrating the cultural significance of handmade batik textiles. In this illustration, children are leaving school wearing batik patterned clothing, batik fashion shows are held, and children make small pieces of batik by hand. In Indonesia, batik is still made by hand by drawing wax designs onto fabric and dying it to form decorative patterns.
